Beth Kendall

Beth Kendall is a Physician Assistant, organizer, and political strategist who believes democracy works best when everyday people feel empowered to participate in it. As a leader at the Can’t Win Victory Fund, Beth combines a science-driven approach with relentless grassroots organizing to help transform overlooked communities and “unwinnable” districts into opportunities for long-term Democratic growth and voter engagement.

Beth’s path into political advocacy began through medicine. Working as a practicing Physician Assistant specializing in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, she witnessed firsthand how broken systems and political decisions shape people’s health, financial security, and quality of life. Seeing patients forced to navigate inaccessible healthcare and impossible economic choices pushed her to ask deeper questions about power, representation, and why so many communities felt ignored by elected officials.

Rather than walking away from the frustration, Beth leaned into it. Armed with a problem-solving mindset rooted in science and patient care, she began organizing in her home community of Iredell County, North Carolina — a deeply conservative area where many Democrats had long been told winning wasn’t possible. In 2018, Beth ran for County Commissioner and earned more votes than any Democrat had received in decades, proving that authentic outreach, bold ideas, and consistent community engagement could shift expectations even in heavily gerrymandered territory.

Since becoming Chair of the Iredell County Democratic Party in 2020, Beth has helped build one of the most energized and active local Democratic infrastructures in the state. Under her leadership, the party expanded its volunteer base, strengthened year-round organizing efforts, and built a durable coalition focused on local engagement, voter education, and community visibility. Even as more than 90% of U.S. counties shifted further right in 2024, Iredell County moved left — a reflection of Beth’s belief that sustained organizing and relationship-building matter, even in the toughest political environments.

In addition to her work locally, Beth serves as President of the North Carolina Democratic Party County Chairs Association, where she works to support, connect, and empower county leaders across the state. She is especially passionate about helping rural and red-county Democrats feel seen, valued, and equipped with the tools they need to organize effectively in difficult political terrain.

Beth grew up in rural Wilkes County and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Biology before earning her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Methodist University. Outside of politics and medicine, she is a marathon runner, CrossFitter, and firm believer that democracy requires endurance. She approaches organizing the same way she approaches distance running: by showing up consistently, doing the hard work even when progress feels slow, and refusing to give up on people or communities simply because the odds are difficult.

At the Can’t Win Victory Fund, Beth channels that persistence into helping candidates and voters challenge political apathy, expose the consequences of gerrymandering, and build the long-term infrastructure necessary for a healthier democracy.
